I read the reviews about this bar falling down, and even though I weigh 220 lbs, I bought it anyway. As long as you install the brackets, it will hold up anyone. The main thing I like about this bar is that the brackets will hold the bar for any direction of pulling. There are only two downsides to this bar. The brackets stick out into the doorway a good 1 1/2 inches on each side. Also only one side of the bar has the foam grip. Being a military policeman I have no time to waste with crummy exercise equipment and the only thing i would change about this bar is that it comes with foam for people with "soft hands" ....the easy remedy is to cut the foam off and get down to business with your grip. I had read other reviews on the mounting configuration being a problem... all i can say is if you pay attention to details and mount it correctly it will hold you and then some. At a bodyweight of 180 i do weighted pullups with this bar using 53lb and 72lb kettlebells and have had absolutley no problems. Another note on the mounting configuration is that my infant son could put this together (its that easy folks). The only thing you have to be careful of (as with any doorway mounted pull up bar on the market) is how securely you screw the brackets into the wall. If not done properly, they may rip out.
