I read the reviews about this bar falling down, and even though I weigh 220 lbs, I bought it anyway. As long as you install the brackets, it will hold up anyone. The main thing I like about this bar is that the brackets will hold the bar for any direction of pulling. There are only two downsides to this bar. The brackets stick out into the doorway a good 1 1/2 inches on each side. Also only one side of the bar has the foam grip. Being a military policeman I have no time to waste with crummy exercise equipment and the only thing i would change about this bar is that it comes with foam for people with "soft hands" ....the easy remedy is to cut the foam off and get down to business with your grip. I had read other reviews on the mounting configuration being a problem... all i can say is if you pay attention to details and mount it correctly it will hold you and then some. At a bodyweight of 180 i do weighted pullups with this bar using 53lb and 72lb kettlebells and have had absolutley no problems. Another note on the mounting configuration is that my infant son could put this together (its that easy folks). The only thing you have to be careful of (as with any doorway mounted pull up bar on the market) is how securely you screw the brackets into the wall. If not done properly, they may rip out. It's well built, sturdy, and easy to put together. I would definitely suggest purchasing this bar over others available online. You really don't need much in a pull-up bar other than stability and a way to mount it. For the price, this is one of the best out there. Who in the world spends $80 on a pull up bar? Some other points in choosing a pull-up bar - consider how you do pull ups (and other exercises) because a wall mount bar may not be comfortable for you. You may hit the wall while exercising and it may be difficult to do assisted pull-ups. Also consider your size - you need a bar that is stable under your weight. Depending on how you install this bar, it should easily support a 220 lbs guy (I'm 175). Installation - this bar installs faily easily, but I would caution you to take care when bolting it up. These straps are a waste of money... don't bother. While the Iron Gym itself is an excellent product I'm almost glad they didn't come with it originally to keep the price down. Before I thought it was fickle not to include them but they're only a good idea in theory; straps are velcro adjusted so its repetitious to attach them and be level with each other. You get a better workout just supporting yourself with your arms and I prefer to prop my legs and hang upside down to work my abs anyways. They're low quality but on par with the price; seem sturdy enough but I've just thrown them in the corner of the closet and never use them.
